Comics and what's happenin'...

Above: Artwork from ARCHIE AND FRIENDS #119. Pencils by Rex Lindsey and inks by Al Nickerson.

Still busy inking. I just finished inking another rush job for Archie Comics. This was the first half, the first eleven pages, of ARCHIE AND FRIENDS #119. Amazing pencils, again, by Rex Lindsey. ARCHIE AND FRIENDS #119 is scheduled to be on sale in May.

I sent in my article for BACK ISSUE #39… the special "Mutants" issue. It was a tremendous joy to write about some of my favorite comics… John Byrne and Chris Claremont’s UNCANNY X-MEN. I got some wonderful feedback from both John Byrne and Roger Stern for the article. BACK ISSUE #39 is scheduled to be on sale in July.

Also, INVINCIBLE #49 came out this week. ATOMIC ROBO#6 came out last week. It’s like Christmas time in April!

Paul Castiglia (P.I.C. friend and comics creator) sent me a press release concerning MECHA MANGA BIBLE HEROES. Apparently, he’s gotten a new distributor for the comic:

JMG Comics, a division of JMG Studios, and Haven Distributors, formerly Cold Cut Comics, are pleased to announce a partnership. The arrangement will bring JMG Comics’ titles into comic shops starting with JMG’s first series, MECHA MANGA BIBLE HEROES.

MECHA MANGA BIBLE HEROES brings classic bible heroes to life in a whole new way. Drawn in the popular manga style and featuring "mecha" (robots), a mainstay of manga, this new series is sure to satisfy fans of imaginative action and adventure. The characters, themes and stories remain the same, only the setting has changed – to a futuristic world of aliens, robots and advanced technology.

The first issue, shipping in May, re-imagines the tale of David, the shepherd boy who took down the giant, Goliath. The 32-page, full-color comic book retails for $2.25 US.

GROUNDEAD…

Above: Movie poster for the short film, GROUNDEAD, featuring Steve Pro (on the far left).

From (fellow P.I.C. member and actor) Steve Pro:

Hey gang- Check this out. We filmed this a couple weeks ago. It's a trailer for a horror film. If chosen, the filmmakers get $1,000,000 to make the movie. We shot so much more footage. So, this may be an early version. It's pretty good for low budget. I think the poster is excellent. If you get a moment, can you vote on the website for this film (if so inclined)? Please spread the word. I've noticed, so far, this pitch has the most votes and the comments on the board are mostly positive. Miss you all! -Stephen

Comic book love!

Lots of good comics have come out in the past two weeks. If you’re tired of stinky-poo comics from the big publishers, then you should check out ATOMIC ROBO #5, INVINCIBLE #48, CLANDESTINE #2, ECHO #1, NEXUS #100, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #12, and JACK STAFF #14.

ARCHIE AND FRIENDS #118...

I’ve been swamped with inking work of late. Which is a blessing, of course. I don’t often know where the stories I ink for Archie Comics will be appearing. Recently, I did a rush-job, a six-paper, for ARCHIE AND FRIENDS #118. The pencils are by Rex Lindsey. Amazing work by Rex. Hopefully, I can ink more of his pencils again.

ARCHIE AND FRIENDS #118 is supposed to be on sale April 30th. Buy many copies! :)
