The Baptism of Al!

As some of you may remember, I was baptized at my church, Cornerstone Baptist Church, on April 1st. Here’s a photo of me right before my baptism where I recited Psalm 116:12-14. That’s Pastor Mike on the left. I’m the handsome fellow on the right. This was a wonderful day for me. I’m glad my pal, Sean, was able to capture this moment for me on film.

Psalm 116:12-14 (King James Version): 12 What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me? 13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD. 14 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

I kind of like the full robe, stream like baptisms.

Well, there were no robes involved. The baptism was full immersion… just like how Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.

Baptism is a very interesting activity. It isn’t necessary for salvation, of course. It’s just a way for us to humble ourselves before God, and for us to make a public acknowledgment of our willingness to follow Christ.

That was an awesome day for me.

Is that T-shirt wet or is it a dry one put on after the baptism?

Umm... the photo was taken right before I was baptized. So, the shirt was dry at that point. But, soon after, it wasn't. :)
