About P.I.C. TOONS Studios...

Above photo: Outside of Sloane House. I have no idea when this was taken.

Like many fabled myths, this one started a long time ago... back in 1985, actually. Back then, the School of Visual Arts’ dorm was a run down old building in mid-town Manhattan called Sloane House. Here, P.I.C. was formed. Being young art youths, Sloane House was paradise for the members of P.I.C.. They freely indulged in beer-drinking, practical jokes, poker-playing, and comic books.

Over the years, the bond of friendship between the members of P.I.C. strengthened as did it’s ranks. One day, around 1993, the members of P.I.C. decided to put their genius and artistic talent to good use. Thus was born P.I.C. TOONS Studios. With their new studio, P.I.C. was able to produce their creator-owned animation and comic book projects.

Yeah... Sloane House is no longer Sloane House. It's now a fancy apartment building. I wonder what my old dorm room looks like now?

Oh, by the way I found a blog by someone who lived in Sloane House. It's at http://lifeatsloanehouse.blogspot.com/

I found it interesting.

I had four. Two in my second year. And a large room with a sink (WooHoo!) in year three.

But, I only had two different studios in those three years at Sloane House. One I had shared with that photography major, Andy. The other I had shared with Pro for two years.

Interesting blog. So, this guy came to Sloane House after I left (1988-89). You were still at Sloane Home at that point.

Shoot, the studios....

The first one with the guy Mark...jerk

The second studio was Crutch's room for a year.

I believe I still had that same room my third year with Miggy.

My fourth one was a share with Dottie, the same room you shared with Pro.

My rooms

First Year: 1075, on the pit

Second year 1st Semester: 1047 Small room on west side

Second Year 2nd Semester: 1040? Large room on pit.

Third Year: Same as Second Year 2nd Semester.

Fourth Year: 1043? Large room, west side, same as Pro's the year before, his last our third.

Man, I wish I had one of those old Sloane House floor maps listing the rooms and their numbers.

I believe the studio I shared with Pro was 1050 or 1052. That was right off of the Pit, as well. I remember I had my buddy, Rob (who didn’t live at the dorm), get a Sloane House I.D. with that studio number on it. Of course, Rob was too afraid to ever use the I.D. card… as I recall.

The large dorm room that I had in the third year was 1039. This was right across from your large dorm room, 1040. I can still picture Pro, in my room (1039), and yelling to Gabby the security guard, "I dare you to right me up!" Of course, if Gabby made good on his threat of writing up the person who lived in room 1039, it wouldn’t have been Pro who got in trouble. Poor, old Gabby.

That large dorm room of Pro’s that you had mentioned came very close to becoming the site of a practical joke. Remember the free pizza party that was suppose to have taken place in Pro’s room? Ya gotta love "The Ghost". :)
