Summer gathering 1986...

During the summer break in August 1986, the members of P.I.C. took a trip to the World Trade Center, had some food at a Mexican restaurant that Sean had worked at (I believe it was called Banditos), and went on a short cruise on the Staten Island Ferry. All photos taken by Sean.

I can't believe (as seen in the third photo) that I had the nerve to put my arm on Rachel's lap like I did. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now, I realize that despite the fact that I meant no harm, my actions were uncalled for. I guess that's what happens when you're young and stupid.

Another comment... I'm haunted by the picture of us at the Trade Center. When 911 went down, I was thinking about that day with Rachel, the day I was with Ana, and a day I was with a friend's brother from Ireland. I was sad that we would never be able to do that again. I tend to think of the small personal things in events like 911

I loved walking downtown and reaching those buildings, going into the underground mall on our way to the South Street Seaport.

I loved the fact that you can walk about a 10 block radius from the towers and not take one step outdoors. I loved the acoustic display in one of the connecting buildings. It involved two chairs separated by about 30 yards with a curvature behind it. The novelty was that you can whisper in our chair and whoever was sitting in the other one would hear you in the other one.

I put one on Ajax one time, by whispering how bored I was and what a bitch Ajax was. she thought I was serious but I assured her that I was merely playing with the chair.

I thought everyone in the picture would be deceased before the Trade Center went down. It was supposed to last hundreds of years.

My memories of 9/11 are still quite powerful. That was such a horrible day. I can still hear the first plane hit the tower. Thankfully, we have a few photographs of our visit. These photos help remind me of happier times that are associated with the World Trade Center.
